As a result of the unprecedented success of this project, the contaminated area, formerly occupied by Israel, is gradually being returned to the people who can now contemplate a future free from the dangers of concealed mines and unexploded ordnance.
OES was implemented by private mine clearance companies assisted by UAE deminers who were trained on-site. Quality assurance and control was provided by the UN Mine Action Co-ordination Centre.
